And what a great fight it was, glad they didnt drag it for too long, and now the story will progress at a slower pace
You will see more characters being introduce but you only need to pay attention to one character, the rest wont show up after this season ends, with the exception of perhaps four new characters, but they will come and go, I will name them as the season progress or in the below spoilers

Spoilers for the next 20 episodes give or take a few I guess... lol

-Soon after entering the Inner academy, the new students are harassed by the older students, forced to either join the various student guilds or to pay a protection fee. The new students goes to Xiao Yan and ask for help, they then decide to form a new guild to help one another much to the chagrin of the older students, the reason is because no new students joining their guilds means they will not have anyone to continue on within that guild in the future. This guild eventually becomes the biggest guild in Jianan Academy's history
-Bai Shan gets his cousin, Bai Cheng's guild to harass Xiao Yan's group, but Bai Cheng is is in seclusion, another high ranking guild member goes and harass Xiao Yan's new guild, they make a wager. If Xiao Yan loses, they will join their guild if Xiao Yan wins they will leave them alone for a certain amount of time. Xiao Yan wins, when Bai Cheng comes out of seclusion, he is not happy with the result of the wager
-Xiao Yan and Wu Hao goes to the Burning Tower to check it out, they experience the effects for the first time, helping them strengthen a little, although they almost suffered since they didnt prepare themselves from the flame's refinement effects before entering the tower. We then meet Han Yue, one of the guild leaders and one of the top beauties of the Inner academy (dont worry no one will be after Xun Er during this part of the arc lol)
-We then meet Lin Yan who is one of the top 10 strongest students. Xiao Yan helps cure the Fire Poison within him. The longer you stay in the Burning Tower the more you accumulate Fire Poison within your body if you dont take the time to take a break from going into the tower and stabilise your Qi and purge the poison, once it reaches a threshold it is very very difficult to purge. It causes the victim to be more bloodthirsty and lose self control and is easily angered. Lin Yan then helps Xiao Yan out of gratitude
-Xiao Yan manages to offend Liu Fei, a cousin of the third strongest in the academy Liu Qing, because he took her spot in the Burning Tower. Xiao Yan dispatched her fawning bootlickers with such ruthlessness that an elder advises him to be lenient as being too ruthless will bring more problems in the future. Liu Fen runs to her cousin to cry, as she and her group were punished with a flame credit fine (she gets slapped by Xun'Er later on for talking bad about Xiao Yan, please look forward to this, since she didnt bat an eyelid at Liu Qing as if he was a speck of dust lol)
-There will be a Pill competition, since to use the tower they new students will need more flame credits, and selling pills is very lucrative in earning flame credits, but this sets Xiao Yan against the existing Student Pill guild, and they set about sabotaging Xiao Yan's stalls with the help of Bai Shan's cousin's guild covertly as well as Liu Qing's guild

That should cover a few episodes for now :D until next time

I'm ready for him to get challenged because all though this had good fights, we already know he was on easy mode by not using all the tools he possesses. Now I get that if he admits he couldn't do it alone, but being able to hurt a Dou Zong (Yun Shan) until Yao Chen took over with boss status aha, these kids were light weight warm ups. You could tell by how the elders hand was twitching/shaking/trembling for a moment like he felt a shock throughout his system.

So will the story have slow progression or less action at this point??

Yes the story will slow down a bit after this episode, there will be some skirmishes and occasional actions spread over until a certain event. It is pretty much character development time lol

Remember that if he doesn't hold back and Fusion both Abnormal Flames, forget about Dou Spirit Level, he can kill Dou Huang (10,000 times stronger) or even injure a Dou Zong (100,000 times) who are many many times stronger than him.

This will expose his secrets, potentially lure higher ranking Elders of scums like Bai Shan to attack him. Sure he has Yao Chen, but remember that there's a limit to how much he can help Xiao Yan and they might alert Soul Hall of Yao Chen's existence!

This is school sparring, a sport, a competition, not a fight to the death. I consider Xiao Yan already showing great restrain by using Alchemy Fire fusion with 1 Abnormal Fire. Though he might not be thinking straight when he did it.

When he used it previously, he detonate it before hitting anyone. Or everyone other than him and Xun'Er will be nothing more than a stain on the battlefield. Now he's using it to target the Dou Spirit Senior.

Xiao Yan probably misjudged Fusion Fire's power thinking that a mere Dou Spirit Level Senior's full force attack can mitigate its power and not kill. This is inexperience on full display.

But I guess that's why you got Dou Huang Instructors here to watch over the fights.

While I havent read the novel, I have watched multiple Hong Kong adaptations of it (not the movie that one was... weird...) I like it, so yes I would :)

Gu Long is one of the top 3 Wuxia novelists, along with Jing Yong, of the Return of the Condor Heroes fame

Not sure if it was written by them but after watching Quanzhi Gaoshou, legend of condor hero was the second non-Japanese anime I watched and the first one that showed me dual cultivation.

Legend of condor hero was a collaboration between Jin Yong and a Japanese studio, I remember when it first came out, a lot of people didnt like it

Jin Yong outlived the other two Wuxia (Martial Arts Hero) novelists, while Lu Gong was the first to pass away due to his heath deteriorating because of his excessive drinking, at his funeral his friends bought him 48 bottles of cognac, this was back in 1985 lol

- Wuxia is Fictional stories about regular humans who can achieve supernatural fighting ability through Chinese martial arts training and internal energy cultivation
- Xianxia is Immortal hero (like Fanren Xiu Xian Zhuan) Fictional stories featuring magic, demons, ghosts, immortals, and a great deal of Chinese folklore/mythology.
- Xuanhuan is mysterious fantasy (like BTTH, Soul Land) A broad genre of fictional stories which remixes Chinese folklore/mythology with foreign elements & settings.

I can understand why not many liked it, the art style is very retro so it's understandable. Story wise, I thought it was very interesting so I'm not sure why they didnt like it on that aspect.

If it was Japanese anime, I would feel it is the norm, given that I am used to it already that I feel numb to it, but usually I shake my head if it serves no purpose but to provide "fanservicing"

While in Chinese donghua, it is rare to see it, there are some rarities that are close, such as Ah Lan in Wu Geng Ji taking a bath, but the nudity is covered up, and the point of that part is to show the MC peeking at her bathing or when Xiao Yan takes Yun Yun's clothes off in order to apply medicine on her

Yup, it is quite funny but it was a good arc of fights. He definitely learned more from this and was gaging his own actual strength without Yao Chen so now we know he's still strong by himself.

Slightly different from the novel but still very good ending. Actually in the novel if I'm not mistaken the Angry Buddha Lotus was dispatch at the gate and cause everyone including the teachers quite a lot of discomfort.

Anyway it's school time. There will be a lot of challenges for Xiao Yan and CO. Happy hunting.
